100% Bio-Based Beverage Bottle Coming Soon

Winner of 2017 ICEF Innovations award (ICEF = Innovations for Cool Earth Forum), Suntory,  is striving to produce 100% bio-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to be used in beverage bottles. They are using an innovative thermal catalytic biomass conversion technology to produce 100% biomass-based PET. A demonstration plant has been built in Texas to complete technology development. Based on the result, 100% biomass-derived PET bottles are scheduled to be commercially introduced in 2021. Learn more here about the Suntory innovation  and more about the ICEF initiative here.
